Fort Eisenhower on Thursday at the installation held a kind of catch-all celebration in honor of Army Heritage Month along with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, LGBTQ Pride Month, and more.
“This is a very important event to the Army, not just Fort Eisenhower,” said Military Equal Opportunities Program Manager Antonio Lindo.
In addition to marking the celebration of many cultural holidays, the event coincided with the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
“This is absolutely an important day for it to be D-Day,” said Lindo. “It’s a coincidence that we were able to do this program on today and there are so many soldiers that sacrificed themselves before today. … To be able to honor the soldiers that fought for us on D-Day and in wars afterwards is just so important to be able to celebrate the culture and what we have today.”
